Meet ACHDB’s Australian Principal / Director, Joscelyn Langdon.
Joscelyn commenced her career at 18 years of age and has been very involved with the fashion and beauty industries her entire life. As a young adult, she was involved in the world of modelling for a short time, and then completed her hairdressing course, becoming a successful salon owner and employer before undertaking her beauty therapy training. As a national trainer for a very prominent international product house, Joscelyn travelled through South East Asia and New Zealand as a platform artist demonstrating new hair and makeup looks to her industry peers, and as educator to hairdressers imparting knowledge on new products and working with colour.
Getting involved in education
Following her passion for training and imparting her worldly knowledge to the industry, Joscelyn joined an educational College in Victoria where she trained young hairdressers who wanted a career in the Hair and Beauty industry. For 15 years, she led three private colleges (as Principal) through the transition of both the Hair and Beauty Industries from an apprentice era to full-time training, before opening her own College, The ACHDB–in the late 80’s based in the CBD of Melbourne.
Pioneering the Australian College of Hairdressing and Beauty (ACHDB)
Joscelyn opened six ACHDB campuses through Victoria, Australia, and then with her successful reputation in regional Victoria, joined forces with Schwarzkopf professional nationally, to take on training in all states of Australia, except the Northern Territory. The College has a following of many ACHDB trained salon owners who seek to recruit ACHDB-trained hairdresser’s makeup artists and beauty therapists. Today, ACHDB is one of the largest private colleges in Australia, with the Melbourne Campus being the largest with over 300 students studying Hairdressing, Beauty Therapy and Make up Artistry at one time. January 2014, saw the opening of the latest campus under the ACHDB umbrella with a new purpose designed make – up school in Collins Street, Melbourne. The fashion hub of Melbourne, Victoria.
ACHDB goes global
ACHDB has always been an industry leader in providing hair and beauty-related education due to Joscelyn’s personal passion, ambition and ability to anticipate and respond to industry changes. Her educational leadership has maintained support for the College by both State and Federal government in Australia and ensures the College’s vibrant future.
Now, with international partnerships in Hong Kong and Manila, graduates are able to attain Australian Qualifications as well as their local Qualification benefiting from The ACHDB reputation for excellence.
